Boorn Wirn

Boorn Wirn

Boorn Wirn is a Noongar business, 100% Aboriginal owned and run in Minang & Goreng Country / Albany by Denzel Coyne. We spent some time with Denzel and yarned with him about his business, what he creates, his connections to Country and some of the challenges he’s faced along the way.

Denzel has been taught by his elders and produces wood artifacts such as yidaki, tapping sticks, coolamon, boomerangs and many others. His artifacts are made from locally and sustainably sourced wood from the area and carefully selected for its growth stage, colours and sound.

Denzel is passionate about producing high quality work for all of his clients and much of his work sells online or by word of mouth. He recently completed a collaboration for Lavar Ball. He produced a custom coolamon to match the painting produced by Hayley Thompson.

Denzel makes the tapping sticks that we often give as gifts at our events and he is also the artist who created the artifacts that are hanging in the entrance to our Summers Street office. If you haven’t had a chance, please come and take a look at some point. We’ve attached photos below.
