Social Reinvestment WA is a coalition of 30 non-profit organisations across WA, working together since 2014 to end the overrepresentation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in our justice system.

Wungening Aboriginal Corporation is a leading member organisation of SRWA, and provides financial auspicing for the movement.

Together we have:

  1. Helped draft legislation to end imprisonment for fine defaults and advocated this to every major party to pass through WA’s lower house;
  2. Supported the establishment of WA’s first Aboriginal community led Justice Reinvestment site Olabud Doogethu in the East Kimberley;
  3. Produced the podcast 'Stories From The Inside' telling the first hand life stories of people in WA's justice system;
  4. Successfully called for government to commit to end the over-representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders in custody;
  5. Brought together NFP’s, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation’s, and the Department of Justice to find rapid solutions to protect people during the COVID Crisis and recovery.

And much, much more....
