A Statement from Wungening

Wungening Aboriginal Corporation acknowledges yesterday’s announcement by WA Police that the attack on the Boorloo Invasion Day rally has now been declared an act of terrorism.

This recognition matters. Naming violence accurately is an important step in acknowledging the harm caused, the intent behind the act, and the fear experienced by Aboriginal people and our allies who were peacefully gathering.

We thank those who have listened to community voices and called for this incident to be treated with the seriousness it warrants. Our thoughts remain with everyone affected, and we continue to stand with our community in calling for accountability, safety and justice.
