About the Service

Wungening Aboriginal Corporation in partnership with Centrecare Incorporated, have established an integrated approach to delivering the Department of Communities – Child Protection and Family Support (CPFS) Building Safe and Strong Families: Earlier Intervention and Family Support Strategy (the EIFS Strategy).

The overarching outcome will be to have children living in safe, stable nurturing environments, achieving good life outcomes, protecting from abuse and neglect and to support families and individuals who are at risk of crisis.

About the role

Case Worker Application Package

You will form part of the Alliance team and will provide assessment, case planning and support for families with medium to low risk factors who are most at risk of child protection intervention. You will provide direct support, advocacy and referrals to families and their children to deal effectively with trauma caused by sexual abuse, family violence, alcohol and substance abuse, housing, health and justice issues by working alongside them to develop skills to enhance their safety and life skills.

Essential skills

  • Diploma in Community Services, Counselling, Youth Work or other related discipline
  • Extensive knowledge and strong understanding of Aboriginal culture, protocols and boundaries and experience working with Aboriginal families in contact with the Department of Communities – Child Protection and Family Support or a similar field
  • Demonstrated case management and referral skills
  • Demonstrated assessment and support planning skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be part of a team and share knowledge and skills with others in order to deliver a quality service and achieve client outcomes.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and written as well as verbal communication skills.
  • Understands legislation, regulations and external standards that apply to relevant work practices.
  • Demonstrated use of Case Management software and Microsoft Package (including Microsoft Outlook
