Counsellor Educator Package

The AOD Counsellor Educator is responsible for providing counselling and education services to clients with alcohol and other substance abuse issues. This will involve the Initial assessment of the client and their presenting situation in order to develop an appropriate counselling and case management intervention plan. You will also be required to work with internal and external stakeholders.

Essential skills and experience

  • Qualifications in a relevant discipline minimum Cert IV (Welfare, Community Service) with extensive experience (minimum of three years) in providing counselling.
  • Extensive experience working with Aboriginal people along with a comprehensive knowledge of Aboriginal culture, protocols and boundaries.
  • Highly developed interview assessment and referral skills
  • Knowledge of the issues and services that relate to AOD affected people.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Current ‘C’ class WA drivers licence, National Police Clearance, Working with Children Check, right to obtain Justice Department Clearance.
